LONG TERM INSURANCE SERVICESLong term Care (LTC) is care that is needed when an individual is no longer able to perform the “Activities of Daily Living” (ADL’s). Activities of daily living include eating, bathing, dressing, toileting, continence, transferring (ex. moving from a bed to a chair) or when substantial supervision is needed due to a cognitive impairment (thinking disorder). Typically, long term care is chronic in nature and is needed for such conditions as Parkinson’s Disease, Alzheimer’s, or a stroke. While long term care is usually needed later in life, younger people may also need LTC due to accidents of all sorts, including recreational accidents, or illnesses like multiple sclerosis. Long term care can be provided in a variety of settings, including your own home, in an assisted living facility, a nursing home, or an adult day care center. Most people who need care (about 80%), live at home, not in facilities. We provide consumer advocacy and guidance to aid in determination and selection of long term care insurance products. We provide personalized consultations and group presentations to individuals, businesses, and organizations.
![]() Long-Term Care Insurance (LTCi) is custom-designed. It pays for care in any environment, including home care, adult day-care, assisted living, and nursing homes. It helps defray the cost of assistance with the activities of daily living or the cost of supervision due to a severe cognitive impairment. Once the critieria for payment of benefits is met in your particular policy, long-term care insurance allows you to receive the type of care you need in the setting that’s right for you. Since all LTCi policies, policy versions, and companies vary, it is essential to seek an expert who will operate in your best interest to help you understand the nuances of coverage. Not all LTCi is the same. There are varying degrees of coverage and quality related to when the policy was purchased, the company selected, the policy form chosen, and the customization process used. Contrary to what you may think, long term care services are not typically covered by any other type of insurance, including health and long-term disability insurance. Only long term care insurance policies cover the day-to-day assistance you need when you have a chronic condition, disability, or cognitive impairment. Having a LTCi policy in place not only protects assets, but perhaps even more importantly, provides you and your family with more options for quality care. You will have access to your preferred setting for care, plus the security and peace of mind knowing care will be paid for. The biggest mistake people make is waiting to obtain coverage. Twenty-four hours from now, a change in health status could make it impossible to obtain Long Term Care Insurance protection. That’s why it’s smart to act before it’s too late.
